Boston to Minnesota and Back

We made it back safely, although we arrived in Boston to cold and brisk winds and a very choppy approach and landing. Mommy felt sick while I giggled with every pocket of turbulent air. If only I could keep that attitude as I age, I am told. Daddy and Grandpa IG returned safely as well, after their weekend of football, hockey, beer, and house hunting in Ann Arbor.

I, for one, had a great time in Minnesota. I finally had the chance to meet (and hang out with) Grandpa David. We visited a giant pumpkin patch and Menard's (the local hardware store that Daddy always pronounces wrong). I met my great-grandfathers Babe and Marland, and was introduced to countless aunts, uncles and cousins. Great fun! We carved a pumpkin with my name on it (using a cordless drill -- how's that for ingenuity!), re-learned how to feed from an artificial nipple (I had given up on bottle feeding from Daddy before the trip), and talked with Uncle BJ by VOIP phone every day. He is having a blast in Denmark and about to go on "holiday" in Spain. Watch out for those bulls, Brandon. Here are a few pics from the extended weekend:

Hanging out with Grandpa IG during supper before we left for MN!

Mommy and me at Logan International Airport for the first time ever!!

Who needs a travel companion when you're this independent (excuse me, flight attendant, could you help me with that seat belt?)!

Excited to meet my Minnesota Grandpa!!

Chillin' with the pumpkins (Go Sox in 2007!)

It was so nice to see Grandma Jo again...

Four generations on Grandma Jo's side (meet my great-grandfather Marland)!

Orange is back in style, says my great-grandfather Babe.

Excellent work with the carving, Grandpa David!

Last but not least, it was a true pleasure to finally meet Mommy's best friend, Aunt Sara. Can't wait to watch the "U" lose to the Wolverines in The Big House next year!

It was a completely successful trip, by all accounts. There are TONS more pictures to see, so be sure to stop by the Smugmug album, Tyler's First Trip to check them out (and to see Daddy's pics from U Michigan!). Hugs and kisses to everybody. XOXOXOXOXOXO.

On A Jet Plane

I got my wings the other day, making my first flight from Boston to Minneapolis to visit the extended Abel family. The flight was tons of fun, even if I did have a "blow-out" poop on Mommy's lap during one of those "please remain seated" times. Our trip was actually quiet uneventful, otherwise. And now I am having the chance to meet so many new people...and I am even trying to talk with them. Amazing! Can't wait to post new pictures from the trip, when I return on Sunday. I miss Daddy...who is back at home working and then off to Michigan with Grandpa IG to watch the UMich football team and maybe even the Detroit Tigers if the rain holds off for the next three days straight (and the Tigers win a game...I don't think both will happen)! Hugs and kisses to everyone. XOXOXOXOXO.

Smugmug Update

Tons of new pictures, including much of my "Gap Audition" and photos from our trip to the Life is Good Pumpkin Festival (held this weekend on the Boston Common) are now online at Smugmug. Check out my third month photo album for a sneak peek at the last two weeks! Looking forward to my first plane ride (although Mommy is a bit nervous!) on Tuesday -- I'm going to visit Minnesota for the first time...

Hugs and kisses. Write often. Love as always. XOXOXOXOXOXO.

The Developmental Stages

Now that I have officially reached a few developmental milestones, I thought I'd officially share them with you. Some are traditional, while others are not, but they are all fun. I hope you enjoy them...

First off, I am bigger and longer than ever before!

My head control is phenomenal (and my drooling is getting there, too)...

I love my Mommy and Daddy so much!

My smile is contagious!

I have learned to cross my scarf (note the name -- this is what they wear in Denmark, instead of team jerseys!).

I am cunning.

I can wear clothing supporting schools that I do not personally root for, just to make friends who have given me such clothing fell good themselves.

I can put it all together for the camera (Mommy and Daddy have entered me into the "Baby Gap Casting Call" -- $5K for the college fund and Baby Gap clothing supply for the year if we win...)

And, lastly, I have a girlfriend now. Meet Ada.

Note that there is no picture of me sleeping today (I am still working on that one!).

I tried a new Mommy group yesterday but didn't like it so much. They yelled at Mommy for interrupting the group by playing with me while another Mommy was "introducing her baby." Too touchy-feely for us. We finally updated the house with some groceries (we went on a family shopping trip)...made carne asada tacos...very good! Hugs and kisses. XOXOXOXOXO.

Shots...

We've been busy as a family lately. A nice walk around the pond on Columbus Day -- Daddy took the day off and hung out with Mommy and me. Dinner with Mommy and Daddy's friends Jon and Amy, followed by some nice ice cream at J.P. Licks, on Monday night. And then I had my two month well child visit at the doctor's today. Three shots and barely a cry. They even told me I have climbed from the 50th to the 70th percentile in weight. Cool. I also learned how to roll over...a good month ahead of time. Also cool. That breast milk is good stuff! Here is the weekend and early week in pictures...

Hangin' in the shower with Daddy.

Just me.

More of me.

Sleepin' on Mommy's shoulder...

Geting naked in the park!

What a beautiful day...

Coooooooooh...

Maybe next year!!

Drooling is good.

Check out that right thigh...

...and the left one...

Off to sleep for now. Be sure to check out the smugmug site for tons of new October pictures (they should be online by Wednesday morning). Love and miss everybody. XOXOXOXOXO.

Two months down, many many more to go

I am now two months and one day old, according to my parents. We celebrated my two month birthday informally, staying in and watching Grey's Anatomy (for Uncle AG and BT) and feeding on breast milk. Mommy and Daddy and I enjoyed the evening. A few photos from the day:

Daddy and me hanging out...I am checking myself out in the mirror!

Taking control of the television at an early age..

Doin' the smiling thing!

This my first ever shower (I loved it)!!

Stretching...

...more stretching...

...and smiling

The monthly photo on the couch alone...I am bigger now!

What a perfect end to the day...

Talk to you again in a few days. Time to catch up on my sleep for now. Love to everyone. Hugs and kisses. XOXOXOXOXO.

It Ain't Gonna Change...

Daddy was in the hospital a lot over these last few days, so he wasn't around much to help me put more pictures up on the blog. Now he's back. Mommy and I have been hangin' around, going for walks, reading lots of books, and just growing. I "celebrated" my first Yom Kippur yesterday...fun to watch Daddy suffer fasting all day while Mommy and I got to eat (gotta love that breastfeeding thing!). I'm really starting to get the smiling thing down; and I now get to look out in the Bjorn (so I don't have to squash my face in Mommy and Daddy's chest all the time). Here are a few photos from the last three days, in no particular order:

In case you didn't get the title reference, check out what my shirt says in the picture with puke all over me! Many, many more photos (as always) will go up on the smugmug second month photo album soon. Super exciting news...I officially turn two months old on Thursday! Crazy stuff. Go Patriots! Hugs and kisses. Can't wait until my first Thanksgiving when everyone comes to visit. XOXOXOXOXO.
